Public talk, Arman Grigoryan in conversation with curator Nazareth Karoyan
The Museum opened its doors in last years of Soviet Union. Its first exposition was made by Nazareth Karoyan – curator, critic and the head of Contemporary Art Institute
(ICA) based in Yerevan.
As a city, Kapan is attractive and representative model of 70’s urban modernism. After Armenia’s independence, Kapan survives a period of heavy and depressive transformation. Its Modern Art Museum symbolizes all the drama and ideological crisis of post socialist transitional stage.
During the conversation, Arman Grigoryan and Nazareth Karoyan will share their experience in managing cultural institutions, shaping the perception of art and, ultimately, creating history, and also how they found space for art within themselves.
